My Human Kit, the fab lab that helps disabled people take control again

In Rennes, the My Human Kit fab lab helps those with a disability design objects that improve their daily lives. A place for sharing and exchanging views, the nonprofit helps people gain greater independence and develop their abilities.

Nicolas Huchet is behind this project. The young man had a hand amputated at the age of 18 following a work accident. Unhappy with his prosthesis, he joined a fab lab and with the team, created a 3D-printed robotic hand far better suited to his needs. Hence the My Human Kit project, whose goal is to let those with a disability address their own needs. Anyone can come to the fab lab with an idea or project. With and for the disabled person, the fab lab team designs an object used on a daily basis. This is an innovative approach, where disabled people can feel independent, equipped with knowledge and skills that help change society’s perception of disability.
