Solidarity with the West Indies: Fondation de France launches an appeal for donations

On Wednesday 6 September 2017, Hurricane Irma struck the West Indies. The islands of Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy were severely hit: 95% of the territory was destroyed.

Massive damage has been reported, while hurricane Irma continues to devastate.

Considering the huge distress faced by the people affected, Fondation de France calls for solidarity with the West Indies.

Fondation de France will support the most vulnerable of those affected in the Caribbean islands, including Saint Martin, Saint Barthélemy and Haiti. It will closely monitor the development of needs.

It will prioritize support to associations that help families in order for the community to rebuild a social, associative and educational life. It will also help local craftsmen and farmers whose equipment was destroyed to get back to their activity.

Fondation de France has already made €100,000 available to fund the first actions.

Fondation de France will give details on a regular basis about the projects supported. A complete report will also be published on Fondation de France website at the end of this operation.
