Why is it important?

Medical progress is having an unprecedented effect on our health but often at the price of increasingly technical and dehumanizing medical treatment. Developing a relationship of trust between patients and caregivers is essential to improving medical therapy.

Palliative care: 25 years of conviction, tenacity and progress

In France, around 545,000 people die every year. Not that long ago, a wall of silence surrounded the pain, suffering and solitude that accompany the end of life. The palliative care movement only emerged during the 1980s, with help from the Fondation de France and the SFAP. For 25 years, the Fondation de France’s “Treat, Relieve, Support” program has contributed to the remarkable progress that has been made in this area.
