Why is it important?

In many parts of the world, gender inequality can accelerate the spread of HIV. Women risk abandonment by their families, despite the fact that they are often responsible for prevention and screening, as well as caring for sick children, partners and parents. For their part, men tend to remain way too far from treatment and prevention systems.

AIDS: bringing research and action together

The Fondation de France has supported research projects in Southern countries as a complement to its support for field projects. From 2006 to 2014, over 150 field projects, as well as around 30 research projects received support for a total than more than 6 million euros.
