Europe
Europe is today one of the elements of our day to day reality. Since 1989, the Fondation de France has been committed to working as a key player in establishing the emergence of networks of generosity which offer means of actions and efficient influence continent-wide.
It has therefore advanced along three principle routes :
● Integration of the existing networks.
● Encouragement of the creation of collective organizations.
● Participation in group work on institutional subjects which concern philanthropy.
The Network of Transnational Donations
To encourage ongoing cross-border generosity, the Fondation de France has set up reciprocal agreements with six partner foundations in the following countries – the United Kingdom (Charities aid foundation), Belgium (Fondation Roi Baudouin), the Netherlands (Oranje fonds), Germany (Maecenata International), Poland (Fundacja dla Polski), and Ireland (The Community Foundation for Ireland).
The principle of this network: when a donor (whether an individual or an enterprise) wishes to make a donation to an organization situated on one of these foreign countries, he may do so via the foundation of the country in which he resides. This foundation establishes fiscal receipt and forwards the donation to the beneficiary foundation abroad.
A contribution of 5% in order to cover administrative and follow-up costs is drawn from the donation and shared between the two intermediary organizations (2% for the foundation which accepts the donation, 3% for that which governs the beneficiary).
