Governance

The Fondation de France is composed of :

  • a Board of Governors which decides on general policy;
  • some Committee of Experts made up of professionals acting in a voluntary capacity, responsible, together with the salaried staff, for advising the Board in the various fields of the foundation’s activity - programs, financial management, etc.
  • a team of professional staff, responsible for putting forward proposals and executing the decisions of the Board.

 

Controls

The Fondation de France is, or is liable to be, subject to controls by:

  • public authorities;
  • various ministries with statutory seats on the Board;
  • the public service department for acceptance of donations;
  • the Cour des Comptes (Audit Office) regarding appeals for voluntary public contributions;
  • the Comité de la Charte (charter of good practice): a study and rule-making body set up by fundraising organizations.

 

Grant awards

For each of its programs, the Fondation de France is assisted by a Committee of Experts.

Composed of professionals from outside the Fondation and acting in a voluntary capacity, they advise on the awarding of grants for the particular programs to which they are attached.
