Under the term of article 2 of its by laws, the principal mission of the Fondation de France is to “constitute funds or foundations on behalf of donors”.

Those foundations are managed individually under its aegis, they benefit from an autonomy in terms of decision -making but are legally attached to the Fondation de France. The donor or the testator selects the purpose of his foundation himself amongst a wide range of causes: health, culture, the environment, the disabled, the elderly, children, research…

Today, 610 funds or foundations are attached to the Fondation de France, among which 57 are created by companies.

The Fondation de France has a central role in the French landscape of foundations. It has thus become a referential partner towards foundations, government administration and local authorities.

The Fondation de France wants to increase the knowledge and recognition of foundations in France. It also wants to support their development. For that purpose, it has initiated and still supports the Centre Français des Fondations.

 

A few examples :

Fondation Ronald Mc Donald, set up in 1994, takes action towards children, and particularly the development of Ronald Mc Donald houses for families of hospitalized children.

Fondation Monsieur et Madame Guy Degrenne, set up in 1999, helps families and young people in distress, in particular in the region of Normandie.

Fondation des Prêts d’honneur Salavin-Fournier was created in 1975 thanks to the donation of the Salavin Fournier couple. Every year, it helps young people, from 18 to 30 year old, carry through their vocation in the most varied fields, such as art, craftsmanship, social action, research, sciences, culture, etc.

Fondation Olivier Messiaen, was founded in 1994 on the initiative of the composer’s wife, Yvonne Loriot-Messiaen. Since then, it has acted towards the influence and the defense of Olivier Messiaen’s work, and supported young creators.

Fondation Réunica Prévoyance created in 2002, intervenes in the field of health.
It supports actions of prevention and care, accompaniment of sick people and their family, and medical research.
